I agree. Imagine all those good students, with a keen interest in their own educational development, deliberately misbehaving just so they end up in detention, getting to listen to and watch all that culturally enriching material! Much better surely to make them just stare at the wall. If he’s not careful they might end up doing all their learning in detention and he may be responsible for ‘slowing the learning process down’ to a complete standstill in class. Better be careful what you wish for Mr. Walker!

I certainly agree. It’s portraying all of the enriching material as a punishment instead of a privilege.

That’s horrifying! Unless those kids have a strong musical background, we all know that what azza101 wryly suggested probably won’t happen. The power of suggestion is a strong thing. They will associate classical music with punishment, and see it as negative, no matter how much teachers sugar-coat the fact that they’re assigning Mozart as a punitive measure.
