The arts can lead the way in the technological revolution!
I loved this article by Bill Thompson which explores how the arts can (and are) leading the way in the development and application of technological tools and environments. There are some very obvious applications to the world of education and I really liked the metaphorical application from The Tempest to describe the ways in which we interact/react to the digital world.
Wordle
Here’s a visualisation of this blog curteousy of Wordle. Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to the Wordle gallery to share with your friends.
Exciting Minds
Creative Partnerships are running the Exciting Minds conference on the 27th and 28th November in Manchester. It is their first ever National Conference and should be a blast! UCan.tv are hoping to have a hands-on type session in the arena at some point during the two days. Look forward to seeing you there!
